If you're reading this right now, then you're either a member, or hopefully interested in becoming a member of the crew. In any case, we're glad you've decided to check us out. The Challenger is the Flagship of Task Force Zulu, in the Megiddo Fleet. She's an Insignia Class Starship. What's that you ask, flipping through all things canon and coming up blank? How come it ain't on Memory Alpha or Ex Astris Scientia? It's not there because the Insignia Class is a fan made design, concieved by Mark Kingsnorth. The class is uniquie in that it's saucer section is actually a series of interchangable misison specific modules that can be switched out, giving the vessel an incredible amount of versitility. That means that the Challenger can be a warship this week and next week we can be out there as a fighter carrier or a hospital ship. the possibilities are literally endless when it comes to mission capability.
What's that mean to you as a simmer, or prospective simmer? It means that we're not pidgeon holed into a certain set of mission profiles. We can do pretty much whatever we want. Total Freedom. So if your character is a science officer say, and you're wanting to serve on a ship that's able to run the techy sciency type missions, look no further. If you're the shoot'em up space battle type, we can do that too.
As the Ship's CO, I think there are some pretty great people already simming here. So if you're looking for a laid back, character driven sim filled with people who want to have fun and write together, this is the place for you. If you're looking for the strictest adherance to the canonical bible and rehashing old storylines every mission right off the show… you might want to look someplace else. In fact, I might save you some time and say that you ought to check another site altogether. We don't really do that here at Megiddo.
In the days to come, this wiki will become home to the Challanger's handbook and much more. It will be a collection of things to help guide new and prospective members to decide if they want to pursue a character here, and if so, how to best go about integrating themselves into the crew. It will also be a place for us to archive missions, establish a ship database, and a tool to use in writing on the Challenger. So stay tuned.
